Michelle Rintala

Michelle co-founded Dash Acres Turf Farm in 1998 and has steered our customer relations and day-to-day farm operations ever since. She oversees order logistics, answers every turf question with a smile, and makes sure each roll ships out fresh and moist. Michelle’s hands-on approach and “no-surprise” service keep homeowners and landscapers coming back season after season.

Dave Rintala

Dave manages the fields, machinery, and delivery fleet at Dash Acres. He plans the cutting schedule to match peak turf health, runs the forklift on delivery day, and maintains our central Nanaimo growing grounds. With four decades of equipment know-how, Dave ensures every pallet of sod rolls out evenly and every truck leaves right on time.

Dayton Rintala

Dayton joined the family turf farm in 2020 and quickly became the steady hand customers rely on. His calm patience shines whether he is loading fresh rolls or offering turf care tips, and he makes sure visitors always leave feeling confident and smiling.

Dash Acres Turf Farm History

Our Humble Beginnings in 1998

Dash Acres Turf Farm began in 1998 when Michelle and Dave Rintala turned a family hobby into a full time operation in South Wellington, Nanaimo. What started as a small plot of trial turf quickly grew into a 15 acre farm dedicated to supplying homeowners and landscapers with the freshest grass on Vancouver Island.

Early 2000s Scaling Up

By the early 2000s they expanded from walk behind mowers to custom cutting rigs, letting them process hundreds of rolls each morning and deliver them across central Vancouver Island by forklift equipped trucks. In 2010 they introduced a farm direct blend (60 percent perennial rye, 30 percent fescue and 10 percent bluegrass) that locks in moisture and weathers dry West Coast summers with ease.

2010 Turf Innovations

Over the years Dash Acres has added eco wise improvements like degradable mesh netting, organic waste composting and hands on care guides to keep every pallet as green behind the scenes as it is on delivery. Today Michelle still handles customer care and Dave oversees the fields and fleet, keeping that original family spirit alive in every roll they ship.

2020 Dayton Joins the Team

Dave and Michelle’s son Dayton decided to join the family turf farm in 2020. In the five seasons since, he has become the calm, friendly face customers rely on. Whether loading fresh rolls or sharing lawn-care pointers, Dayton makes sure every visitor leaves with exactly what they need and a smile.
